Credit cards are one of the most popular payment methods in the current times. Today lets look at what documents are required for issue of a credit card. Every issuing bank has its own list of documents needed to process a credit card application. However, we have narrowed down on a few common requirements across all credit card issuing financial institutions in India. The document list varies depending on who is applying for a credit card – salaried person, self employed professional, student etc.
I. Documents required for salaried employees
- Identity Proof (Any one of the following) – Aadhar card, PAN card, driving license, Voter ID card, Passport
- Address Proof (Any one of the following) – Electricity bill, Passport, Driving license, Voter ID card, Most recent bank statement.
- Income Proof – Salary slip, Form 16, Income tax return
II. Documents required for Self employed businessmen/professionals
- Identity Proof (Any one of the following) – Aadhar card, PAN card, driving license, Voter ID card, Passport
- Address Proof (Any one of the following) – Electricity bill, Passport, Driving license, Voter ID card, Most recent bank statement.
- Income Proof – Income tax returns with computation of income, Proof of business continuity, Certified financial documents
III. Documents required for students
- Identity Proof (Any one of the following) – Aadhar card, PAN card, driving license, Voter ID card, Passport
- Address Proof (Any one of the following) – Electricity bill, Passport, Driving license, Voter ID card
- Age Proof (Any one of the following) – Birth Certificate, 10th Standard school certificate, Passport, Voter ID card
- Enrolment Proof – College ID card, Admission slip, Study certificate from college or university
IV. Documents required for Non resident Indians (NRI)
- Identity Proof – Passport, Driving license
- Address Proof (where mailing address is in India) – Lease/Rent Agreement, Utility Bills (not more than 3 months old), Original bank account statement, Title deeds of property
V. Documents required for travel credit cards or Forex credit cards
- Salaried/Self employed travellers – PAN card, Passport, Travel Visa, Travel tickets, Form A2
- Student travellers – Form A2, Passport, Appointment letter or admission letter or University ID Card, Passport size photograph
